look. i love you so much i will take the time to type out the whole letter. and you probably have seen it before. BUT ANYWAY. Re: Annual Audition Dear Music Teacher, The Hudson Valley Music Club holds a juried competition for outstanding high school students residing in Westchester who are studying an instrument or voice. This year for the second year, we are inviting solo performers AND CHAMBER ENSEMBLES featuring up to six musicians. The winners this year will be given an opportunity to perform in concert on a regular program of the Music Club at 54 Clinton Avenue, Dobbs Ferry April 26, 2004 at 1:00 pm. They will receive press publicity as well as cash rewards. Students should prepare to audition with no less than 5 but no more than 10 minutes of music which should represent various musical styles. Memorization is not necessary. In the case of longer works, they may be asked to play excerpts. Students need to only offer works that they could perform in entirety if they are chosen as a winner in our Awards Concert. At that time they may play up to 20 minutes of material. **The auditions will be at the Dobbs Ferry Women's Club, 54 Clinton Avenue, on Sunday March 14th from 12:10 pm to 6:10 pm.** An application is enclosed. Feel free to make more copies. We also encourage you to share this information with your colleagues. If you have questions, please call me or Laurel Levine at 914 693-0616. Please have your students submit their applications plus a $15 fee (non-refundable) to the above address. Applications and money must be received by February 15. 2004. We are looking forward to meeting you and your students. Sincerely, Sandy Summer-Parks and Laurel Levine Student Award Chairpersons I HONESTLY THINK WE CAN DO THIS. if we do what we were talking about before, with weekly/bi-weekly rehearsals, we really can. i say we take ONE quartet and really polish it, then play two contrasting movements for the audition. if we win, we can play the whole thing. please! please say you agree with me! i think we should try. love shmems

I don't know why I'm feeling reluctant about this, but I'll figure it out before the end of tonight, I promise you.

First things first, I checked the dates, and the audition date is OKAY if we can choose our time, but if they assign us a time and it's after 3, that would kind of be annoying because I have NY Youth from 4-8, which I have to leave early from as it is because of stupid Hoff Orchestra concert. But if it's before that...Vicky, do you know if we can choose our own times?

Also, if we wanted to do it, we'd have to start rehearsing RIGHT AWAY, because we have a limited number of weeks until March 14th. If we actually win, the April 26th concert date is okay, except there's a NY Phil Chamber masterclass at Hoff at 3:30, which shouldn't be a problem, I don't think. I don't know, it'll be a close call. I could always be late to that I guess.

Do you guys honestly think we can be ready in a month? I have a bad attitude. Sorry guys. I'm going to go eat dinner, grow a better attitude, and get back to you favorite persons.
